Space Camp Westaskawin 2013

 

Before camp we went on a long drive in an attempt to find the camp we about an hour late. After arriving at the camp we dumped our stuff in the heated lodge and got ready for a hike. On the hike we had to go through a lot of trees and even climb a small hill. Eventually we got to a fire pit and we all sat down when one of the Scouters said; “Unless somebody wants to go back and get the firewood and hotdogs let’s keep going.” As we hiked I saw that we were just taking a longer route when we could have taken a shorter route. When we got to the real fire pit we saw a bunch of lodges.  One of the Scouters told us that these where the lodges for the next night.

After that one of the Scouters had gotten the weenies and the firewood, he took the short way, we all got to roast our hot dogs and they were really tasty. When we got back to the cabin we had mug up I ate some cookies and drank some hot chocolate after that I went to bed.

The next morning when I woke up we had to pack up and get ready to move to the unheated lodge’s and unpack. When we arrived I dumped my stuff in a lodge to learn that one person was in a lodge by themselves so I had to move. After all the unpacking we started a fire that we wanted to keep running all day.  We sat around burning sticks and then left for breakfast.

When we arrived back at the heated lodge many of the Cubs where still sleeping.  That didn’t last long as after a couple of minutes the Scouters woke them up. As we were eating breakfast the Beavers started coming in.  After breakfast we had a scavenger hunt where we went searching for pictures of animals on cardboard. It was really fun and seeing all the animals was cool. After the scavenger hunt we built rocket ships with some paper wood tape and paint.  My rocket ship was set for a disaster mission.

When we finished the ships we had lunch and after that we headed to the campsite to roast some bread after 1 long try I was bored and went sliding on some ice on the frozen river. When we were finished sliding we played capture the flag as a troop it was really fun I got to climb up a hill and even run with the flag I was tagged though. When we went down for dinner we got to eat turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and ham.  I only ate potatoes and turkey. Oh yeah, I had gravy as well.

After dinner we watched a movie and then had mug up of popcorn and hot chocolate. When we got back to the lodges I sat by the fire for a bit than went to bed in the morning I packed up sat by the fire and then went down to have breakfast of pancakes and sausages. After helping clean up I got to go home.
