Unfortunately the most difficult event of this camp was trying to find it. We spent a little more time on the road then we expected. But once we arrived the fun began. Since my dad was one of the volunteers at Camp we got to pull in by the lodge, making the walk less of a distance. One of the Scouts approached me and asked me if i wanted to spend the weekend sleeping in a tent. I of course jumped at the opportunity to do this as it was a requirement for my Chief Scout Award. That night was a slow night. We ended up roasting weenies on the fire and I returned to my tent with a full belly and drifted off to sleep.
As I woke the next morning I had to make my way to the facilities but I was so warm and snug in my sleeping bags I left it till almost the last minute. I ran out of my tent in my t-shirt and long johns, I rushed through the door and made my way over sleeping Cubs and Scouts. After I used the facilities I could smell bacon. I returned to my tent and woke up my sleeping partner and it still wasn’t time for breakfast. We decided to play some tether ball. After we ate breakfast we could not go tobogganing because there was not enough snow. So we participated in a challenging nature hunt. We went back to the fire, we were rewarded prizes (gummie treats) and we made homemade bread on a stick, yummy. After my many attempts at this I got bored and started to slide on the ice with my friends. We also slide through a tube which was fun.
When the movie ended I
returned to my tent for lights out. We woke the next morning to another
great breakfast again cooked by volunteers. After breakfast we packed our
gear, and received our camp crest. As people were leaving I helped clean
the lodge, took down my tent and carried my gear to the car, which again was
close to camp. What a great winter weekend.
