F.A.S.T. 2012

FAST was a great camp about leadership. We learned a lot of things and had fun. When we first got there we threw our stuff on our beds and headed to a different lodge to watch a movie. We watched the Blind Side, it was great as it had a good story line. Then we had snack and went back to the other lodge and went to sleep.

I woke up that morning got on my uniform and went to the flag for opening. After that we went to the lodge and learned about different governments; a dictatorship, a democracy and free reign. We had to hold some strings tied to a metal circle and then we put a ball in the middle and had to race as we were a democracy talking to one another. Everyone talked about which way to go and the ball only fell twice. As a dictatorship the ball didn't even fall because we only had one person making the decisions. In free reign the ball fell so much I lost count.

Then we played a game where we were on a tarp and had to fold it in half and then continue to fold it in half again and no one could fall of the tarp. There was too much pushing so we almost all feel of the tarp. Then we played telephone and learned about communication. The phone started off with, pancakes taste good with syrup, and ended up with, Marko Polo. We played again and started with, gloves keep my hands warm, and ended up with, and kittens keep my parents warm.

Then we had lunch and had an Iron Chef challenge.  The Iron Chef challenge is where the Scouts make lunch for the leaders against other patrols and the leaders decide who has the best food.  We lost.  After lunch we played capture the flag  and manhunt.

The rest of the day was mostly talking about leadership. Then we had diner and watched a movie with some popcorn and went to sleep. In the morning we had closing and learned about the Court of Honour. Then we left and went home.

The only thing I did not like about FAST camp is that it wasn't that challenging enough.  I learned how to be a better leader from this camp and cant wait until one day I can be an APL/PL.
