Survivor Camp 2012

Survivor Camp was pretty good. The challenges were fun but my favourite was there was one caller and the rest were partnered. Blindfolded, and tied together. The caller had to get others to get puzzle pieces to make a puzzle. The idols were a lot of fun too. The only thing to change about them is that since most of idols were found easily, hide them a little harder. And if possible, give tree mail hints for as many as allowable by leaders.

The dinner was good but for the next one, try to use ingredients that aren’t related to each other. Olives, feta, and tomatoes are all Greek and easy to use. Maybe try something such as beef (ground), swiss and pesto, which aren’t related at all to increase imagination.

The fire starting / hot dog roasting challenge was also a good challenge and I know went over well with the other tribes. It combines previous knowledge (making fire, cooking hot dogs) with careful handiwork (axes, cooking hot dog). It also helped prepare the people that were going to Competition Camp, as one of the challenges, coincidentally, was fire starting.

These are some of my ideas to make the camp a little better. Overall, this camp turned out great. It was one of my favourite camping trips this year. Most people enjoyed it a lot (I know I did) and was also a good preparation for Comp Camp. This has been my recap of Survivor Camp 2012.

Competition Camp 2012

I believe this camp went very well. Although we didn’t win and there weren’t as many groups their as their were in recent years it was still an amazing camp. I believe we all really enjoyed how open it was for you to do what you wanted. At camp this year we weren’t assigned an order to go to each event so we were able to go with our fellow EB patrol. The new shelters also worked very well. The only problem was that only one person knew how to set them up. Fortunately even with only one person knowing how we were able to set it up extremely quickly and take it down just as fast. Another good thing about competition camp this year is that our entire group got along. Next time instead of buying uncooked chicken burgers we will have to buy precooked ones. Our plan was to do that but unfortunately when we were at the grocery store their were none so we either had to buy normal ones or remake the entire menu. Also our eggbert cracked early on when we tried to fit both our egg and the other EB patrol's egg in my container. Unfortunately ours happened to be on top and it broke. Later we decided that if we can't win we might as well help the other patrol. We let them use our unbroken chariot. Unfortunately neither us or them won. We might of not done the best in the rankings but we had tons of fun. Even people who were unhappy and homesick were having tons of fun by the end of the camp. Sure it would of been awesome if we won but in my mind having fun is the best part of camp.
