Cooking Camp Report

I loved cooking camp it was at Mount Nemo on the week end. Some of the things I liked were making burning buddies, sleeping in anoronducts and the thing I loved the most was playing all the fun games. I it was so much fun on the first day we came to camp and got all set up.

Day two we ate breakfast than we split up into stations and than we learned about germs after that we made burning buddies And made grilled cheese and after that we got free time till dinner. For Dinner we made roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy. The next meal was Mug Up we had hot chocolate and nachos.

The next morning we had all the leftovers in one big pot and in there was bacon, sausage, mashed potato’s and Cheese all in one pot it was soooo good. Than we went on a hike and played Capture the flag. It was fun and than we went to the lodge and bid on foods And we all had five rocks. We can bid on foods and the highest bidder won The food.

After that we packed up and we all went home. Cooking camp was the Best.

The thing I would change was a little more cooking and more time on the stations. The Adirondacks were fun but I wish I had more time hanging out at them. The things I liked were making burning buddies, sleeping in Adirondacks, and the hike we did I learned so much it was fun cutting down trees. I can’t wait till next year, till then see you soon.

Cooking Camp

To Scouters Al and Blake,

Cooking Camp was great.  The adirondack was quite warm and cozy.  The best meals I had were the nachos (Friday night mug-up), the steak and potatoes (Saturday dinner) and the buddy burner grilled cheese (Saturday lunch).  The best parts of the trip / camp must have been making and cooking grilled cheese on the buddy burners, designing the Canadian Food Guide camp meals (it would be much better if we finish and use the menus for patrol camp, or make new ones), and making the muffin makers.  Don't forget free time!  The worst parts were the hike Friday and Saturday with our luggage (I got BAD pressure points) as well as the long talk about germs STANDING (chairs maybe?) and the muddy hike in the bush on Sunday.  The rest that I have not mentioned were not bad but not great, just good / OK.  There are no changes I would've made to the camp.  The camp was exceptional like planned and expected and I enjoyed it as well as getting my Cooking and Wildlife/Fish badges.  If you accept my feedback letter, I will be much closer to the Voyageur Scout Award.  I have 4 badges for at least 2 categories and after might get 1 seasonal Scout camper award (sorry if this is not the proper name for it).  All I will need is my 4 diamond badges (eg. Leadership, etc.).  To sum it up and end it, it was fabulous, great, extrodinary, spectacular, grand, surprising, restful (Alex!) and even amusing camp and I do really hope we have another camp just like it really, really soon.

Finding NEMO Camp Report

I believe this camp was very good. Although at the very beginning we were very disorganized and it took a long time for enough scouters to arrive to take a party of people down to the Adirondacks. I believe that most of the scouts including myself loved the tree removal task and that next camp we should have more time for that. Another event we did was making the “hobo” stoves. This was very good and we even cooked lunch on them but they didn’t provide lids for them so all of the methyl hydrate is currently evaporating out of our “hobo stoves”. Overall the food was good but next time we should have either faster meals or more time allocated for cleanup. This is because I was one of the PL’s and APL’s that had to stay back during free time and do the joyous event of cleaning troop dishes!! On the whole this camp was amazing and I believe it should be repeated next year with only these few minor changes. If you weren’t there that’s a shame because it was a great camp. See ya next time.

Finding NEMO Winter Camp Report

Our last camp was a lot of fun. On the first night we arrived determined who would stay in the Adirondacks and who would be in the lodge for the night. Unfortunately we found that the camp (or at least the lodge we were in) had no running water. So bad because we had no indoor washrooms and no running water in the kitchen. And this was a cooking camp. So needless to say the cooking part was a little different than we thought it would be. Any way we got down to the Adirondacks just fine and set up for the night. After we got back we watched the movie finding Nemo which oddly enough was the name of the camp. During the movie we had mug up which was nachos and hot chocolate. The next day we woke up and had pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then we went through the morning activities in this order. My patrol went to stove making, then we learned about bacteria in the kitchen. Then my patrol had its first duty of the weekend for lunch. Not that there was much to do. We made grilled cheese sandwiches on the stoves that we made out of cans. After we finished lunch the entire group went on a hike to the nature centre also called the hicop. We went on a hike to a field with the scouter that works there. Once there we learned about the local wildlife. We started to cut down trees that they said would help the wildlife. Apparently when they planted all those trees they lost a lot of habitat for some local species. When we came back to the lodge we prepared dinner. For dinner we had roast beef mashed potatoes and gravy. There were vegetables too (not that many people ate them). We went outside for a campfire and had some skits. Some were good, others not so much. So then came mug up. Marshmallows roasting over a fire. Yum. Then we went to bed. Next morning I got up and cleared out of the Adirondack and went up to the lodge to prepare breakfast. We had scouts breakfast aka sausages, bacon, eggs and cheese all thrown in a pot on the stove to cook. Toast on the side. After that we had closing and a leftovers auction with stones as money. I got a package of everything bagels. After scouter bill handed out the badges it was time to go home. And believe it or not after all that we found Nemo.
