French River Log

Tuesday

The first day of camp the group met at Frontenac and loaded the gear onto the trailer. Then the long drive to our campsite started. We stopped at a Tim Horton’s/Dairy Queen for a snack and a bathroom break. When we got there our tents were already up so we unloaded the gear and then went to bed.

Wednesday

Wednesday we got to sleep in. We had breakfast and soon after we started our hike to the rock ledge. We took turns jumping off the rock ledge and also swam a little bit it was a lot of fun. After jumping off the rock ledge we walked over to a small beach. We swam, hung out rolled in the sand and even played king of the hill on a small dock not very far away from the beach. After we walked back to camp and ate dinner. We even saw a turtle cross our campsite and go into the water. Then we went straight to bed.

Thursday

We ate breakfast early and drove over to the dock. We put our gear into the canoe and started paddling to our campsite. About halfway through we had to do a small portage because a rapid was blocking our way. After the portage we rafted up and had a snack. When we made it to the campsite we had a quick swim and then ate dinner. We even learned how to tie our food barrel to a tree to make sure bears wouldn’t take it.

Friday

We ate breakfast packed up our gear and then headed to the next dock. About halfway to the dock we rafted up. We then tied tarps to our paddle and then used them like a sail. We even sailed for about five km. When we got to the dock we packed the gear in the trailer and started driving to our campsite. We put our stuff in the cabin and set up the kitchen. I was even able to have a shower.

Saturday

We woke up early and drove over to Dynamic Earth. It was really cool because we got to walk through the mine tunnels and learn about the machines they use for mining. When we got outside we took a look at the big nickel. After we drove over to science north were we did different fun activities like the flying squirrel show and the flight simulator building kinect cars and more. We also watched a cool IMAX movie called born to be wild. After we went to East side Mario’s for dinner the food was good and we had a lot of fun.

Sunday

We ate breakfast packed up our stuff and started the long drive back to Burlington. On the way back we stopped at the same place we stopped at the first time up. The lines were huge so it took a while to buy our snacks. When we finally made it back to Frontenac everybody was reunited with there family.
