Finding NEMO Winter Camp Report

Our last camp was a lot of fun. On the first night we arrived determined who would stay in the Adirondacks and who would be in the lodge for the night. Unfortunately we found that the camp (or at least the lodge we were in) had no running water. So bad because we had no indoor washrooms and no running water in the kitchen. And this was a cooking camp. So needless to say the cooking part was a little different than we thought it would be. Any way we got down to the Adirondacks just fine and set up for the night. After we got back we watched the movie finding Nemo which oddly enough was the name of the camp. During the movie we had mug up which was nachos and hot chocolate. The next day we woke up and had pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then we went through the morning activities in this order. My patrol went to stove making, then we learned about bacteria in the kitchen. Then my patrol had its first duty of the weekend for lunch. Not that there was much to do. We made grilled cheese sandwiches on the stoves that we made out of cans. After we finished lunch the entire group went on a hike to the nature centre also called the hicop. We went on a hike to a field with the scouter that works there. Once there we learned about the local wildlife. We started to cut down trees that they said would help the wildlife. Apparently when they planted all those trees they lost a lot of habitat for some local species. When we came back to the lodge we prepared dinner. For dinner we had roast beef mashed potatoes and gravy. There were vegetables too (not that many people ate them). We went outside for a campfire and had some skits. Some were good, others not so much. So then came mug up. Marshmallows roasting over a fire. Yum. Then we went to bed. Next morning I got up and cleared out of the Adirondack and went up to the lodge to prepare breakfast. We had scouts breakfast aka sausages, bacon, eggs and cheese all thrown in a pot on the stove to cook. Toast on the side. After that we had closing and a leftovers auction with stones as money. I got a package of everything bagels. After scouter bill handed out the badges it was time to go home. And believe it or not after all that we found Nemo.
